AN INFORMAL SESSION FOR SQUIRREL - MIS 2, signed and inscribed by "Squirrel" (Edwin Ashcraft III) from a session held in October 1966 at Blues Alley.
A truly informal, and surprise, jazz session which was one that was not organized by Squirrel - it was a farewell party on the occasion of his retirement from government service. It was organized by Jimmy McPartland and included, along with Jimmy, the following "men who made the music": Tommy Gwaltney, Steve Jordan, Charlie Butler, Eddie Phyfe, Bill Potts and Billy Taylor Jr.
The record is in Very Good condition with some scuffs and light scratches. The record has been played. There are pops and clicks on the first track, which is mostly spoken introductions, but the rest of Side 1 and Side 2 have only occasional surface noise and a few light pops. The cover is in Good condition with some yellowing at edges and two 3 inch splits along the top edge.
