"Eye In The Sky" - Alan Parsons (keyb); Eric Woolfson (keyb, voc); Andrew Powell (arr, cond); Ian Bairnson (g); Mel Collins (sax); David Paton (b, g, voc); Stuart Elliot (dr, perc), orchestra & chorus

The Alan Parsons Project has shown how, apart from the customary personality cult, you can become a star without elaborate light shows, promotional rock greats in the team of musicians and songs you have written yourself. Parsons, who initially completed an apprenticeship as a sound engineer at EMI and later supervised several Paul Mc Cartney productions and the creation of Pink Floyd's album "Dark Side Of The Moon" in the legendary Abbey Road Studios, used the home advantage for the solo -Career. While his co-producer Eric Woolfson worked as a songwriter, Parsons used his phenomenal feeling for sounds to brew juicy mixtures of synthetic and natural sound ingredients.
Like all albums from the early years, "Eye In The Sky" also addresses important zeitgeist themes. Owing to the no-future lifestyle of the 80s, the songs exude slightly depressive notes that are used as a contrast to steely rock rhythms, free of electronic gimmicks. There is also harmony-addicting vocal polyphony ("Gemini)", orchestral brass music in Spanish rhythm ("Silence And I") and velvety string clouds ("Old And Wise"). A strong performance by the British sound aesthetes at the control desk.
