Title: III
Artist: Led Zeppelin
Catalog: USA Atlantic SD 7201 Later RI-Philips Pressing with Mfg by Atlantic Recording Company, 75 Rockerfeller Plaza, etc. (see photo)
Jacket: VG+ with minimal wear (see Photos). The spin wheel works perfect. There are no splits, cuts, dings, dents or excessive wear.
LP: Visual near mint, very spotless and shiny with a like new luster. The LP plays beautifully!! Side one was dead quiet. Side two had a few lower level pops, perhaps 8 in all. Very clean pressing and beautiful surfaces!
Notes: The album showed a progression from straightforward rock towards and acoustic music. While hard rock influences were still present, such as on "", acoustic-based songs such as "" and "" showed Led Zeppelin were capable of playing different styles successfully. The band wrote most of the material themselves, but as with prior records, included two songs that were re-interpretations of earlier works: "Gallows Pole", based on a traditional English folk song, by way of American singer ; and "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper", a reworking of a blues song by . The acoustic material developed from a songwriting session between Plant and Page at cottage in Wales, which influenced the musical direction.
