COVER CONDITION – THIS DISC DOES NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE, BUT HAS TAMLA MOTOWN COMPANY SLEEVE, MINUS THE STICKER THAT IS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE.

Marvin Gaye

Real Name:- Marvin Pentz Gay Jr.Brother of Frankie Gaye and father of Nona Gaye.  

American singer-songwriter and musician with a three-octave vocal range, born April 2, 1939 in Washington D.C.

  Gaye married Berry Gordy's sister, Anna Gordy, in June 1963. The couple separated in 1973, and Anna filed for divorce in November 1975. The couple was officially divorced in 1977. Gaye later married Janis Hunter in October 1977. The couple separated in 1979, and were officially divorced in February 1981.Gaye was the father of three children, Marvin III (adopted with Anna; Marvin III was the son of Denise Gordy Anna's niece), and Nona and Frankie, whom he had with his second wife, Janis. At the time of his death, he was survived by his three children, parents, and five siblings. 

 On the afternoon of April 1, 1984, in the family house in the West Adams district of Los Angeles, Gaye intervened in a fight between his parents and became involved in a physical altercation with his father, Marvin Gaye Senior In Gaye's bedroom minutes later, at 12:38 p.m. Gay Sr shot Gaye in the heart and then, at point blank range, his left shoulder. The first shot proved fatal. Gaye was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m. after his body arrived at California Hospital Medical Centre, one day short of his 45th birthday.After Gaye's funeral, his body was cremated at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, his ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean. Initially charged with first-degree murder, Gay Sr.'s charges dropped to voluntary manslaughter following a diagnosis of a brain tumor. Marvin Gay Sr. was later sentenced to a suspended six-year sentence and probation. He died at a nursing home in 1998. 

Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 (Performer). Starting as a member of the The Moonglows in the late fifties, he ventured into a solo career after the group disbanded in 1960 signing with the Tamla subsidiary of Motown Records.

Grading

Mint - I will not grade Mint unless I am absolutely sure it has not been played Mint Minus [N.M.] - Label and Vinyl looks perfect and plays perfect Excellent - Vinyl has virtually no blemishes. Plays Perfect. Label may have a sticker. VG plus - Has the odd superficial mark but plays without any surface noise or skips or crackles. Very close to Excellent. May have sticker VG - Same as above but may have more marks. But still plays without skips or surface noise. GOOD   more noticeable marks than a VG+ but has no skips or jumps. May have SLIGHT surface noise
