Offered is A Symposium Of Swing, on Victor Records C-28.

This 4 record shellac set was first pressed and released in 1937, and as a matter of recorded music history, is a celebration of the immense popularity and success of early jazz music forms.

Each record features a band "leader" - Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Bunny Berigan and "Fats" Waller - who then had an ensemble of musicians that reads like a "Who's Who" of Early American Jazz (please see our Gallery Photos).

Some of the production values in this set reflect the improvements that occur as new technology (here, recorded music) develops. The brittleness of shellac records was well known by 1937 (especially by some of the heartbroken record buyers), and our offered set includes the original protective packaging that came with its issue - including eggshell cardboard between the manila inner sleeves,  and even a removable set (not attached to the spine) of soft textured cardboard that has 4 sleeves!

Well, in 1937 we weren't far from The Age Of Vinyl  - with "Unbreakable" displayed prominently on the early labels.

THE SHELLAC : NEAR MINT
  

NM :  Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, all 8 sides of these 4 records retain much of their original gloss with bright, undamaged Black and Gold Victor labels (please see photos).
 
Evident are a few cosmetic scuffs / no visible scratches / no chips or cracking / no deep marks, and all tracks play with no skips or sticks.
 
These records have been carefully handled. 








THE ALBUM SET COVER : NEAR MINT

NM :   As with the records, the Cover has been exceptionally well-stored / the cardboard composition is of a heavier grade / present is a small amount of edge wear / no rips, tears, missing portions or writing / no dirt or stains / glossy, laminated back and front cover photos / the spine is intact, and the manila inner sleeves are securely attached.




The Album Cover and The Records will be separately arranged into a sturdy mailer box with plenty of protective packaging for its journey to you. These original, early recordings are great treasures, and while their shellac composition is brittle - we have not lost one yet!
We have a good deal of experience with the transit providers, and will prepare your mailer box with great care.
