BEATLES WHITE ALBUM~RARE 1968 LP w/6 LABEL ERRORS!!~LOW NMBR CVR~POSTER~PICTURES

Media: LP
Condition: VG- to VG
Cover Condition: VG- to VG
Label: Apple Records
Reference Number : SWBO-101
Country: US
Date: 1968

RARE 1968 APPLE RECORDS SWBO-101 NUMBERED FIRST PRESSING WITH 6 OF 7 LABEL ERRORS!!
Original 1968 U.S. FIRST pressing of The Beatles "White Album" with serial number "0081810" on the cover, LOW NUMBER! Pressed at Capitol Records Pressing Plant, Scranton, as identified by the "IAM" in a triangle stamp in the run-outs. Has "Mfd. by Capitol..." white label rim text on sides 2 and 4.
This rare and highly sought after pressing contains 6 of the 7 original printing errors on the labels. Upon release of the album, John Lennon noticed these mistakes and had them corrected immediately on future pressings, but not before some of these extremely rare error copies had already entered the marketplace. Includes all 4 original heavy stock portrait pictures and fold-out poster/lyric insert!

Here are the 6 song errors on the labels:
1. Side 1: A6 reads "Bungalow Bill" instead of "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill”.
2. Side 1: A4 reads "Obladi Oblada" instead of "Ob-la-di Ob-la-da”.
3. Side 2: B5 reads "Rocky Racoon" missing the second "C" in Raccoon
4. Side 4: D6 reads "Goodnight" instead of "Good Night"
5. Side 4: D1 reads "Revolution No. 1" instead of "Revolution 1"
6. Side 4: D5 reads "Revolution No. 9" instead of "Revolution 9"
7. (The rarest of all 7 label errors) Side 2: B7 "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" without the question mark (?) has been corrected on this particular pressing and does have the question mark.

Dead wax run-out etchings:
Side 1: SWBO 1-101-J46 3 "IAM" inside triangle stamp
Side 2: SWBO-2-101-J45 4 "IAM" inside triangle stamp
Side 3: SWBO 3-101-J47" 2 "IAM" inside triangle stamp
Side 4: SWBO 4-101-J44 2 "IAM" inside triangle stamp

Vinyl (2) has numerous light surface sleeve scuffs/scratches that may cause some background noise holding grade down, nothing that I can feel though. Labels have some light wear/hazing around the outer edge and a couple faint spindle marks throughout. All 4 original heavy stock portrait pictures are excellent. Fold-out poster/lyric insert is excellent with a touch of cornerwear/edgewear and handling wear. Poster is unhung with no rips, splits, tears, tape, pin-holes, etc. Gatefold cover with "The Beatles" embossed on the front has heavy cornerwear/edgewear, a light ding bottom right corner, spidering/creasing along the spine edge, very tiny splits at the top right corners, ringwear/hazing, and numerous light scuffs/marks.

Here's very invaluable information on how The Beatles White Albums were numbered, and the meaning behind all the sequences:

The first 25 White Albums were numbered with an “A” prefix and then a series of zeros preceding the number (e.g. A0000009). There are always seven digits following the “A” so if it was a single digit number it would be preceded by six zeroes or if it was a two digit number it would be preceded by five zeroes. It is not known what the “A” was indicative of (it may mean “printed in America" or “Apple” but neither is confirmed).
Numbers 26-99 were three digit numbers preceded with a zero and no prefix.
Numbers 100 through approximately 209,999 were preceded with the correct number of zeroes to make them a seven digit number (with no letter prefix)
Beginning around 210,000 to up near 590,000, they were preceded by a zero and had an “A” prefix.
Later copies up to about 1,350,000 remain at seven digits using a leading zero if necessary and are prefixed with a large dot.
The next batch from 1,350,000 up to some point past 2,000,000 are prefixed with an “A” but it's a thinner “A” than used earlier.
From 2,000,000 to around 2,250,000 some are prefixed with a large dot and some with the “A.”
From 2,250,000 up to 3,000,000 the numbers are prefixed with the abbreviation for number (i.e. “No.”). On some of these the “o” in “No.” is raised with the period below it instead of beside it.
For the final numbers over 3,000,000 the numbers are prefixed with a wide “A.”

GRADING
Here is the standard PlanetarySounds grades records by (with help from Goldmine).
Remember, even with such a guide, grading is still subjective. Most albums, unless noted, are visually graded under bright lights. We strive to provide as much information as possible about each album. Please ask questions if unsure about anything BEFORE you bid.
Still Sealed (SS) As good as it gets. Unopened and most likely perfect all around.
Mint (M) Absolutely perfect in every way. Maybe played once. Handled with utmost care.
Near Mint (NM or M-) A nearly perfect record. The record shows no obvious signs of wear. Covers show no more than the most minor defects. The same holds true for inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, etc.
Near Mint Minus or Very Good Plus Plus (NM- or VG++) Just a hair more wear than NM, but still very close to Near Mint overall. Vinyl may have nominal sleeve or paper scuffs, cover may have hint of wear. VG++ will be just a fraction below NM- due to one additional tiny defect.
Very Good Plus (VG+) Album and cover show some light signs that it was played and otherwise handled with care of it. Record surfaces may have slight surface scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect play. If not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.
Very Good (VG) Increased scuffs or light scratches, surface noise evident upon playing. Covers and labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers, or minor seam splits.
Very Good Minus (VG-) Certain background noise, possible click or pop, flawed item. Covers heavily damaged, major splits, tears, writing, etc.
