This super rare hard to get, private pressing, limited edition, comes from Tasmanian-based musician Ian Young, an obscure singer/songwriter with a distinctively soulful and deep voice. He played in unrecorded bands 1812 (which featured Company Caine drummer John Mctnerney) and One Ton Rock. This particular solo album, housed in a beautiful hand-painted textured sleeve, was one of three extremely elusive releases on Nick Armstrong’s studio label ‘Spectangle Productions’, which was based out of Spectangle Studios in Hobart. This studio was also later the home of the interesting Basket and Candle labels, which produced wonderful Australian folk albums by artists such as Howard Eynon, Ian Paulin, Steve Warner and Martin Mcbain. This album is an American-influenced mix of mellow acoustic folk, rustic folk rock and gritty acoustic blues, with Ian’s versatile vocals at the forefront. At times, the style of his songs recall American folksinger Dave Van Ronk or Van Morrison circa 1970; Van’s songs ‘And It Stoned Me’ and ‘Brand New Day’ are good reference points. His deep, gravelly voice on the downer folk-blues track ‘Down Around’ even resembles the whiskey-soaked tone of a mature Tom Waits. Both 'Cremorne Ferry' and 'To Be Really There' have a soul-folk flavour that almost sound like songs Rodriguez could have written. The Vinyl is EX, has some faint scuff The Handmade cover is VG++ 
All records sold have been cleaned, and placed in a NEW poly inner and outer sleeves. Records sold are posted in BRAND NEW cardboard LP mailers with the record on the outside of the cover. To prevent Seem Splits.

Grading System:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD+: Perfectly acceptable, plays with no skips or jumps, no feelable marks. Hairlines, and other superficial scratches may be evident on the vinyl but sound quality and fidelity still excellent, may have the odd pop and crackle only. Cover will have normal wear, seams and corners in tact, some age deterioration.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
