Richard Wagner: Der Ring des Nibelungen- Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung
Herbert von Karajan conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
With Vickers, Talvela, Janowitz, Ludwig, Stewart, Brilioth and many more.
German DGG stereo pressing from the early 70s.
Four separate slipcases and a hardback book in a massive slipcase box.
Where
present, innersleeves have dates from 1972 imprinted. I assume that
makes this a first pressing,
as Götterdammerung to my knowledge
originally was issued in late 1970 and DGG might have considered
to first sell all the remaining single boxes of this recording.
Could
be that the first boxed set of this seminal recording was issued as early as 1971,
but I’ve not come a across a copy so far that would substantiate that assumption.
This is a massive article! Weighs almost 8Kg without packaging!
Condition Box: VG+. Outer box has a bit of rubbing from storage over the decades, but really not that bad.
Especially considering its weight!Condition Slipcases: Strong EX. Hardly any detectable wear.
Condition
Vinyl: NM. I
couldn’t detect any spibndle wear on more than 2 sides.
Condition
Book: EX. Only the paper
envelpe has wear. This actually is more like VG, with some rubbing
and small cits.

A note
about my record-grading:
I
usually only visually grade the LPs under strong light and I only
playgrade them ( i.e. the portions that seem to have signs of usage),
if I can't be sure of their actual condition.
If records show
stronger signs of soiling I'll professionally clean them (Okki Nokki
RCM), but I'm not doing this if it's obviously only dust, as I know
that collectors usually prefer their
very own way of
record-cleaning.
My goal is to always decribe the records
appropriately and I will name every visible and/or audible defect in
my detailed description. If regardless of my precautions
you
should ever be dissatisfied with the condition of a record, please
contact me before leaving negative or neutral feedback to give me the
chance to resolve your query.
I'm confident, however, that this
will hardly ever be the case. I've been selling records for many
years now and so far complaints fortunately have been the utter
exception!
