THIS IS A COMPLETE GENUINE RARE 1ST UK PRESSING AND IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BUY A COMPLETE EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE VINYL ALBUMS OF ALL TIME.
The Beatles, later known as the White Album, had over a quarter of a million advance orders, and of course went straight to number 1. This was the first double album EVER to get to the top slot where it stayed for 7 weeks in a row. It sold so many, that once again The Beatles also made the singles chart, consequently the ONLY double album to ever enter that chart. By the end of the year, just over a month later, the white album had sold over 4,000,000 copies worldwide, and by the end of 1970 global sales were around 6.5 million. At that time this was the biggest selling double album of all time.
The sleeve design was by Richard Hamilton, who suggested the minimalistic approach and the consecutively numbered sleeves which would give a limited edition feel to it. Richard also came up with the montage idea for the large free poster, which included the lyrics on its rear. The four free colour prints were taken by John Kelly. Every single original pressing was unique, and came with a great collection of additional material. Also a ground breaking album, THE WHITE ALBUM is one of the great vinyl collectables of all time.
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:
Yes – Great sound quality from this 1st pressing, with a clarity of sound that can only be found on these rare 1st pressings.
The White Album is a complex and varied collection of music, and is also a relatively sensitive piece of vinyl, and hard to find in clear audio condition. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'Helter Skelter.' This pressing has bright sound with strong undistorted audio throughout. It really sounds great and plays with great sound separation and clarity!
Superb sound, every track has been tested and this is a great example. There is barely any light static in places and no loud pops or clicks. There are obviously NO sticks or jumps what so ever and NO distortion. I will give a detailed account below:
Bursting in with 'Back in the USSR' this great track often plays with lots of loud static and at times with a jump, that came as a pressing fault on some early editions. Not here, just bright audio, barely any background static during the run ins, no dull pops and certainly not any jumps or faults.
'Dear Prudence', such a hard track for the White Album, nearly always prone to heavy wear being the first quiet track on the record, here sounds great. It is crisp and clear and plays with very little light occasional static, and no pops or clicks. 'Glass Onion' sounds incredible, with bright clear audio free of pops, clicks or tics, there is barely any light static during outro and none during the music.
'Obla Di Obla Da' also sounds great, playing with no background static, pops or clicks. There is barely any static between tracks and then 'Honey Pie' plays extremely clearly with no loud pops, clicks or even static tics. Leading into 'Bungalow Bill' which plays just superbly, just a couple of light tics in the middle, and no loud static. Super clear sound.
'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' also plays superbly, with no detectable static and no loud pops or clicks during the music, just beautiful clear, amazing sharp music. 'Happiness' rounds off side 1. again with bright, clear sound. There is barely any detectable light static at the start or anywhere else on this great track. No loud pops or clicks anywhere, just great bright sound.
Side 2. of the White Album virtually always starts off with heavy static. Here there is some light static at the start of 'Martha My Dear', a couple of random dust pops and not a single loud pop or click throughout. Just some occasional static during the track but certainly nothing obtrusive. 'So Tired' plays really well with very little light background static. Super clear, bright audio!
Leading into 'Blackbird', of course one of the quietest tracks on the record. Here it plays with lovely clear bright sound, no loud pops, with barely any detectable static during the guitar break or anywhere else during the track. A really great, super clear performance.
'Piggies' sounds great, nice clear sound with no obvious tics or static. 'Rocky Racoon', another sparse track plays superbly, with great clear sound. There is barely any static at all. Leading into 'Don't Pass Me By', which plays with absolutely superb quality. Barely any static, and no loud pops or clicks just incredible, clear sound. Perhaps one light, dull pop in the middle but it's barely noticeable. 'Why Don't We Do It In The Road' also plays great with no pops, no clicks, and minimal background static.
'I Will', always a major test for the White Album, being such a quiet and sparse track plays brilliantly. It sounds really clear, with no distortion and barely any (if any at all) detectable background static. A great performance of 'Julia' rounds off side 2. This is such a tender, delicate track and here it plays really beautifully. There is some light static during this ultra quiet track, and three random very light tics in the middle.
Side 3. begins with the raucous 'Birthday', which sounds great, bright, loud superb audio. There is not a single pop or click during the music, and a little light static at the start. Moving into the paired down 'Yer Blues' which also plays with little detectable background static. The sound throughout is bright and clear. 'Mother Natures Son', another extremely delicate track usually blighted by heavy static and loud pops, here sounds great. There is little light static, and not a single loud pop or click throughout. A great example.
'Take it Easy' and 'Sexy Sadie' continue with great clear sound and virtually no background static. There are no clicks or pops. 'Helter Skelter', plays superbly, with bright clear audio, static in fade out/in. 'Long Long Time', another of the quietest tracks on The White Album, plays with no loud pops or clicks and a little light static during the music and at the end of the track. The track plays with clear, outstanding audio.
Side 4. begins with 'Revolution' and plays with incredible clear runs ins and great clear audio. There is little light, occasional static and no loud pops or clicks. 'Honey Pie' sounds great, but with some light static during the intro. There is one light pops between tracks. 'Savoy Truffle' plays with bright clear sound, no pops or clicks and barely any light static at all, just super clear, loud audio.
'Cry Baby Cry' and 'Can you Take Me Back', which plays so clear and bright, with a little occasional light static and no loud clicks or pops. The long abstract 'Revolution 9', a track that can be plagued by unwanted noise, sounds great, with no loud loud pops or clicks, just some moderate static and some faint occasional background tics during the opening. There are two or three random light pops in the middle of the track. Leading into the final track of this Beatles masterpiece, 'Good Night', again a quiet track, so often playing with poor distorted sound, but on this pressing sounds great. There are no pops in the middle and some light occasional background static.
This is a great White Album and a great listen. The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals come through with tremendous power. It's the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten. Great first MONO mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact. There is little occasional static and there are no loud pops or clicks.
I would give the Audio a grading of EXCELLENT to MINT.
A great all round Complete and Rare example of this BEATLES MASTERPIECE
Super clear press, which pack amazing drive and punch.
THE RECORD - Visual Grading
A thick pressed set of glossy vinyls. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original early pressings. When viewed under a spot light there are a few whispy sleeve removal marks. In daylight the vinyls look great and is barely played. There is one short light hairline and a very light completely non sounding scuff on side 4. A lovely set, and no marks that cause interference to the sound quality, which is stunning.
This record has been barely played and shows no groove wear. Unbelievable to think this vinyl is over 40 years old!
Graded at EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT PLUS.
VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:
Yes, NONE visible what so ever, when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.
Famous Apple labels are in great condition with very little spindle wear and just one or two light, barely visible spindle traces. Great all round examples, with little toning down of the white areas.
Graded at NEAR MINT!
A great example with a lovely sheen and a low number, it has to be one of the best I have ever seen.
This White Album comes with the original TOP Loading NUMBERED Gatefold Sleeve by GARROD & LOFTHOUSE. A great example, it is made in the heavy weight card and is fully laminated with the title THE BEATLES embossed under the laminate. LOW Number 0072358.
This really is a great cover, with very little to fault it. There are barely any light handling marks, or light corner wear.
The cover has maintained its creamish white sheen, with very light wear only. There is no feathering to the Top openings, which is very rare. The spine is stunning with some very slight yellowing. All the text is readable and complete.
Graded at EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT.
THE INNERSSo hard to find in original condition, and not replaced by late replicas, which are significantly different. Made out of very thin paper these Original BLACK inner sleeves in EXCELLENT PLUS condition. A great set that would be hard tom ever better. With no seem splits, and barely any light creases. These incredibly delicate inner sleeve were usually destroyed and are often passed off with replacement replica inners, which are obviously different in form, texture and weight. So rare to find a complete original set in this condition. Incredible!
Large original 1st press Lip Stick PHOTO-MONTAGE and LYRIC SHEET, 57 x 87 cms in great condition. Again, not to be confused with posters from later pressings, these 1st press posters are unique.
This complete example comes with NO slight tears to the seams, slight wear on the edges and a little light discolouration. No writing, no pin-holes, no glue or sellotape marks.
Graded at NEAR MINT.
Comes with all Four Photos which are in EXCELLENT PLUS. condition. All Four Prints, 20 x 29 cms, on the original Thick Card. - No tears, no writing, no pin-holes, no glue or sellotape marks. A great and rare original set. Guaranteed!
THE PHOTO SPACER
Also comes with the ULTRA RARE PHOTO SPACER. These were included in the original 1st pressings only, as an aid to hang the four prints. As the four prints were nearly always stuck to peoples walls, this thin paper guide was nearly always lost or discarded. So incredibly rare to have one in EXCELLENT condition, very light creasing only.

SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING:
All our records are play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description. We aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound, pointing out the slightest defect so that you know exactly what you are buying. We aim to describe all records as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description.
VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:
Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and we advise a light clean between plays for optimal performance.
