This is part of a large auction of blues, R&B and a few rock n' roll 10" 78's. Almost all of these came from the collection of a 1950's Yale radio DJ. Across the board, they have been played very little.
Here's the info on this item:
Release: John Lee Hooker – Half A Stranger / Shake, Holler And Run
Format: 78 rpm 10" shallac record
Year: 1955
Notes: Red label first pressing. This is Hooker's last or second-to-last single before moving to Vee-Jay where he would have a run of classics. A-side is very much in his slow, delta blues style. The b-side is an interesting, uptempo track with sax that "borrows" pretty noticeably from Shake Rattle & Roll which was released the year before.
Record Condition: E, Play-wise, this record plays great with great sound, very little wear. Very little surface noise, almost none at all. Cosmetically, this has several small scuffs and some hazing due to liquid exposure, none of that really affects play though. The label is very clean, no marks, tears or obvious spindle marks. There is a small sticker on one side. I'm going to mark this down to E for cosmetics, but the play grade is solid E+.
All records I sell have been personally cleaned and play tested. I am an experienced grader and use the VJM grading system, but please see pictures as so much of this is subjective. These will be shipped in sleeves in a cardboard sandwich in a box for maximum protection.
I want buying from me to be a good experience for you. I also know that condition can be very subjective, so I encourage you to see pics for exact condition details and ask questions if you need additional information. As always, the item you see is the one you will get. Please see my feedback, I think that will show that I am an accurate and fair grader and make sure my customers are happy.
I will combine shipping for anyone who wins more than one item. If you do need combined shipping, please wait for an invoice before paying.
