Comments: Two really good sides – superb copy. I have never been able to figure out which is the A-side, but “The Real Thing” has the lower matrix number. It’s the same song also recorded by Betty Everett. Up-tempo and highly danceable. I put “Teardrops” in the girl-group category – it is slow but not a ballad because of the insistent rhythmic track, it also has a very strong and catchy melody and Tina puts her heart into the delivery. Wasn’t a hit – can’t understand why!
♫You can find clips of both sides on YOU TUBE.♫
*) later copies and the competing version by Betty Everett has composer credits of Ashford-Simpson-Armstead, which is correct.
