Liszt - Dance of Death (Cover: Danse Macabre by Hans Holbein) Side 1: Todtentanz / Side 2: Piano Concerto in C# Minor MGM Records 1952 MONO Side1 EX! Side2 VG
Side 1 looks to be EX, maybe even NM (the most important side)
Side 2 has a long light scratch that can be seen well in the last photo. We would consider it VG on that side because of the scratch, but I have not played this record yet. Once we can play this record with the perfect needle, we will clean and record it for an example of the audio. Soon.
There is a 1 inch tear at bottom right of cover. Protective box included, We will take better photos of everything soon.
Korsakov Concerto For Piano And Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra of London conducted by Anatole Fistoulari, featuring female pianist Fabienne Jacquinot.
The theme of death and the symbolism associated with it was a theme for the Renaissance period that preoccupied the artists of the time. They had experienced Europe's terrible Black Death in the 14th century, which struck and dramatically reduced Europe's population. And the dance of death was a common theme for both Hans Holbein and Michael Wolgemut. The former had indeed produced a wonderful series of small-scale woodcuts for the play The Dance of Death. The second painter had illustrated the Book of Chronicles by Hartmann Schedel in 1493. In which the macabre dance appears.
