Background Information
I am currently in the process of shifting a vast collection of stock which largely derives from a Record Shop which closed its doors in the early 1980s. The stock spans a period from the early 1960s through to the early 80s with the bulk dating from the 1970s. There are large quantities of Progressive Rock, R & B and Soul and Modern Classical. Most of the items have sustained a single play (clearly standard practice to check for flaws upon receipt of new records back-in-the-day) however, some are obviously UNPLAYED. The bulk of what I’m currently selling comes from this source and I’d guess it will be years before I exhaust it!
UNSOLD SHOP STOCK RARE Original Indian ODEON/EMI Records pressing of Shankar Jaikishan’s ‘Bombay Talkie’ Soundtrack L.P. (Catalogue Reference: ODEON/EMI Records MOCE 4006). Clearly an original pressing. It features a very heavy card sleeve and a pretty heavy vinyl pressing. The labels are black with silver print and they are ‘grooved’ and the record is stored inside an EMI label bag advertising contemporary EMI LPs. This item has been in storage for at least the last 30 years and judging by the condition of both the cover and the record it is questionable that this has seen more than a handful of plays. All my records are graded under an intense light and the first thing I should state is that this appears to be a good quality pressing. I don’t discern any pressing flaws. The weight of the record is very American but the appearance is a bit like a British DECCA pressing. The only flaws are a product of the coarse EMI label bag which the record is stored in. This has resulted in a limited number of light, ‘wispy’ hairline markings which are appear to be far more prevalent on Side One than Side Two. These really aren’t excessively present and the bulk of the playing surface is mark free. There are no marks of substance (i.e. which can be seen in normal daylight or which can be felt). The vinyl is graded as being in EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition and I’d think it is highly unlikely you’d ever find or see a superior copy. As noted above the EMI label bag is present. The vinyl has broken through in two places and this isn’t particularly surprising when you consider that the paper is quite thin and fragile. It really wasn’t designed for such a heavy pressing. I think it is not a little surprising that it is still present and this reflects the fact that this is most likely any unsold copy. The sleeve is also a superior example which benefits from having spent it’s entire life inside a polythene cover. The colouring is still vivid and the rear of the sleeve which is largely white is still as white as the day this was pressed. There has been negligible loss of print. There is very limited print loss in the very centre of the sleeve on the front and this reflects the fact that the vinyl labels protrude somewhat with the resulting affect being that these sections of the sleeve are a little more exposed to rubbing. The most noticeable flaw is a knock to the top right-hand corner of the sleeve which has resulted in bending and creasing to this corner of the sleeve which is evident on both sides. The two spine corners are still quite ‘sharp’ while the bottom right-hand corner exhibits a minimal amount of fraying. There is one crease on the front of the sleeve near the opening edge which results from the sleeve being gripped between the fingertips whilst the vinyl is removed. I don’t believe there is anything else worth mentioning and I believe the sleeve is a solid EXCELLENT+ grade and again, I don’t believe you’re going to find a better copy.

Final Remarks
Just incredibly rare in this kind of condition! This item has sat in storage for at least the last 30 years. Please check my other auctions for a large selection of Pop, R&B, Rock and Soul collectables from the same source in similarly immaculate condition. Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!
General Conditions & Information
I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader. I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!). As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself. I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light. Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself.
Returns Policy
If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt. The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.
Payment Methods
Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order. Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.
Postage Costs
I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013. Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00. Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically. Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise). Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required. I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it? Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion. Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).
Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs. I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
Proof of postage is always obtained and retained.
Overseas Buyers
As noted above Overseas buyers are welcome. If you want me to investigate potential postage costs in advance of the auction’s end then please feel free to contact me.
