This is a nice copy of the 1980 Mobile Fidelity pressed-in-Japan version of Steely Dan's "Aja."

I’m just about done with selling sealed/unplayed vinyl LPs so it’s time to auction some played or used records.  I’ve been wondering how to handle the issue of condition/grading.  I’m aware of both the Record Collector and Goldmine magazine grading systems and that many sellers basically combine the two (essentially adding an “Excellent” category to the Goldmine system), which I think I’ll also go with.   I’m also aware, having bought quite a few records on eBay in the last number of years, that too many sellers are, um, imaginative in their interpretation of those systems (LPs graded “excellent” that have scratches, for example).  So, what I think I’ll try is a sort of hybrid system, with nominal grades for the cover and vinyl, along with an accompanying condition description.  Also, if the vinyl has no visible scuffs or scratches, I’ll do a visual grading only, with a visual plus play grading if there are visible vinyl flaws or damage.  All vinyl will have been cleaned, with details provided, except for sealed or unplayed examples (cleaning on request for open/unplayed vinyl).  Comments on this scheme are welcome, thanks.

Vinyl Condition:  There are no scuffs or scratches.  There are one or two spindle marks.  Visually graded.  (NM)

Cover Condition:  There's no ring wear but the cover is a little bit creased & scuffed here and there. (EX)
