Hi, I am liquidating my personal collection. Most of the records have been on the shelf for decades and have not been played for years. They are in very good(VG), excellent(EX), to near mint condition(NM), unless specified otherwise. Please refer to my grading scale below (scroll down).
Here is the general condition for this Album:
Record : NM condition, shining with luster in original Columbia plastic inner sleeve. Heavy, 141 grams, slightly raised edge, grey label with 6 eyes. Please refer to the photos.
Jacket: EX, minor shelfwear.
Please feel free to ask any questions. I do combine shipping for $1 for each additional single LP purchase. If you buy multiple items, please wait till I send you a combined invoice with shipping discount.
RECORD GRADING:
(S) SEALED ---- It is still sealed in shrink wrap, unopened, so it should be in pristine condition when it opens. For some collectors, they will just keep it that way, and hope one day the value will increase. Once you open the shrink wrap, the value drops by 50% instantly.
(M) MINT ---- It should appear to be perfect. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains, undesirable writings, tears or splits. Mint means perfect, but it has been opened, perhaps never played, or just played once. The record is shining, free of dust.
(NM) NEAR MINT ---- Otherwise mint but has one or two tiny inconsequential flaws that do not affect play. Covers should be close to perfect with minor signs of shelf wear or age just becoming evident: slight ring-wear, minor denting to a corner, or writing on the cover should all be noted properly. When possible, please check the photos carefully to see the conditions of the record and the outer jacket.
(EX) EXCELLENT ---- A little bit less than NM, with very minor scuff or insignificant light scratch that will not affect the playing, perhaps a few static pops occasionally, it should still play through without problem. Sometime, an EX album can be restored back to NM with a deep cleaning process.
(VG+) VERY GOOD PLUS ---- The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a record, there may be light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve, and some of the original luster may be lost. A slight scratch that did not affect play would be acceptably VG+ for most collectors.
(VG) VERY GOOD ---- Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise, but should not overwhelm the musical experience. Usually a cover is VG when one or two of these problems are evident: ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, etc.
(G) GOOD ---- Well played with little luster and significant surface noise. Despite defects, record should still play all the way through without skipping. Several cover flaws will be apparent, but should not obliterate the artwork.
(P) POOR ---- Any record or cover that does not qualify for the above "Good" grading should be seen as Poor. Several cover flaws.
(C) COLLECTIBLE ---- For some collectors, it is not about the condition of the album, it is about what it is, such as first edition, limited edition and rarity. So, in this category, people would pay thousands of dollars for an old beat up record.
