'Bernard Haitink, whose greatest recordings are featured in the enclosed library album, has been Music Director of the prestigious Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam for almost 20 years. He was only twenty-seven when he first led this great orchestra as guest conductor. His performance was do impressive that he was immediately earmarked as the next Music Director, although he served what amounted to an eight - year apprenticeship before finally assuming that title.
... Included are such great works as Claude Debussy's La Mer, Symphony No. 9 in C Major by Franz Schubert and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in E Minor. Rounding out this program of fine music are notable works by three other distinguished composers -- Anton Bruckner, Richard Strauss and George Bizet.'
