Here I'm selling a  collection of interesting Pink Floyd and related items. A few years ago I used  to work for a music exporter and I got hold of some cool and rare items -  sometimes when they were already out of print. This was one of those items!

This lot includes:

 - 1 x Pulse 4 LP  box set with 52 page hardback book (with MINT, UNPLAYED vinyl, and box in  EXCELLENT condition - see photos below)

 - 1 x Syd Barrett  "Madcap Laughs - the Mick Rock Photo Sessions" numbered 12" boxed set with  book, postcard and certificate (from 1993) - (MINT - see photos below)

 - 1 x Pink Floyd  1967 "The First 3 Singles" CD single from 1997 (MINT - see photos below)

 - 1 x Pink Floyd  "High Hopes" CD single (Still sealed - Near Mint condition - see photos  below)

Why you  should NEVER buy a sealed copy of "Pulse" on vinyl...

When "Pulse" came out  on vinyl in 1995 I was still working for a music exporter. This was a very  popular set for non-UK based shops and we sold dozens and dozens of copies. To  be honest, I'm not sure how many countries released it on vinyl outside the UK,  but for a big expensive box set it was a big seller.

Anyhow, I personally  bought about five-six copies for myself and friends, and was very disappointed  to find that my set had a couple of records with split spines. After opening a  few more sets this turned out to be the case with most of them - even in sets  where there was no external damage to the box (which I wouldn't have accepted in  the first place).

It turned out that  this was not an isolated problem and that a significant number of sets being  shipped by EMI were either damaged in manufacturing or were being damaged in  transit. I would estimate that about 40% of the sets EMI sent us had some sort  of problem when they came through the door. Obviously this damage could only be  seen when the sets were opened so most of the time we just shipped them out and  hoped our customers didn't return them!

For my part, in the  end I returned a few sets for replacement, and from all the sets I had I  eventually cobbled together enough complete sets that were free of damage to the  inner sleeves for myself (and any friends who were bothered about this). This  left me though with one set with three split inner sleeves - and that's the set  that's on sale here!

As to the EMI box I  have included in this lot... these were used by EMI to ship vinyl to their  wholesale customers. They weren't used for sets like "Pulse" but for any order  of single LPs in multiples of 25. I always thought that they looked very cool  (if somewhat industrial) and that it would make a nice rare addition to this  auction...
