This is the Canadian pressing on Capitol Records, Catalog number CI-90258, a original 1988 issue. Cover is in good state, showing some signs of use mostly in the corners (Can be seen in the pictures) and has a small punch down hole in the leftmost corner that goes through. The inner sleeve is made of a glossy material and near mint; and the vinyl is perfect, no marks or hairlines, barely played. No ring wear on the cover, the spine is fully readable. You will be hard pressed to find a copy in this state at this price.
The vinyl will ship in a rigid cardboard sleeve very carefully packaged for a safe travel to your door and with a tracking number emailed to the winner of the auction as soon as the PayPal payment clears. Thanks for looking at my auctions and happy bidding!.
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son was the seventh studio album by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released in 1988 by EMI in Europe and its sister label Capitol Records in the US. It was the first Iron Maiden release to feature keyboards. Like The Number of the Beast and, later, Fear of the Dark and The Final Frontier, it debuted at No. 1 in the UK Albums Chart. It also marked the first appearance of many progressive rock elements which would be used frequently in later albums, seen in the length and odd time signatures of the title track "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son", and by the fact that it is a concept album.
Perfection is usually something bands strive for, and while there are many, many amazing metal releases existing today, there are only a handful of absolutely perfect albums. Iron Maiden, being a huge band, might seem like an obvious choice to praise an album from, but who cares? They've released quite a few classic albums (as most metal heads would know), but this release is perhaps the best of their 30+ year existence. Words really cannot describe how fantastic this album is. It's a bit less raw and upbeat than a few of the bands previous works, but that its not is another contributing factor to its greatness. It's a dark, but polished album with a chilling atmosphere for its entire duration.
Concept albums, admittedly, can be a bit hit-or-miss for some people, including me. This album, however, brings its concepts across perfectly. With a main lyrical theme centered around mysticism and visions of prophecy it is really quite interesting, and the lyrical themes support the trance-like experience of listening to this. Every one of these songs are great, showcasing some of Dave Murray and Adrian Smith's best riffs written, Bruce Dickinson's soaring vocals and just the overall "complete" feel of all of them makes them amazing too.
There are no faults in this album; it is flawless. Maiden were at their creative peak here, and no albums released after this have topped it. Any fans of heavy metal need this as it is amazing.
