Grading System:

Please note that these are visual gradings, unless I make some particular mention of their playing performance in my description, above.

I also use a + and – sometimes, if they don’t strictly fall within the confines of the scale. That is not to say, for instance, that an E- is the same as a VG+.

For the perfectionists out there, I recommend anything that falls within the M and EX ratings, but not below unless I make specific note of the record’s playing performance in the description, above.

MINT: Sealed, unplayed. No used disc will rate in this grading.

MINT- Has been opened or played, but it has no visible signs of wear.

NM: Only the most minor signs of use. There might be fine lines, paper marks, etc, visible under a light, which will not affect play performance at all, and expect a disc of this rating to play with only very minimal noise, unless there is a problem with the pressing, itself, and not the actual condition of the disc.

Excellent: As with the NM rating, discs of this grade are still in great condition, only with minimal signs of use- slightly more than NM, but still, only fine lines or minor scuffs.

Very Good: Will have significantly more signs of use than EX. There might be some scuffs or scratches, but the disc will still play quite well, and the surface noise should not be excessive.

Good: Generally discs of this grading are only listed if they are of particular interest, as they are usually in quite rough condition, either with scratches or scuffs. They will still be playable, however, but there could be loud pops in some places, or occasional skips, depending on what kind of turntable you use.
