GRADING

Please note that I can’t playgrade all the records. I know it would be a precious help in taking your decision, but I’ve always been considering that records have a limited number of uses and I don’t want to add any unnecessary wear. When I’m suspicious about the presence of pops and clicks, I form my opinion with a smart check. My grading is then mostly visual, and I try to do it in the most accurate and strict manner.

The other big point is that I don’t clean the records I’m selling. One reason is because they don’t need it (80% come from the collection of a careful conductor), the other reason is because I still don’t have the good machine, and I’m convinced that demanding collectors prefer to get a record they will clean their own way with their own trustworthy equipment rather than buying an unproperly cleaned one. A perfect untouched surface can so easily sleep under a thin dust layer…

My grading scale (for vinyls)

NM: perfect copy, no surface marks

EX: perfect copy, glossy surface, may show some really unsignificant brush marks

VG++: glossy, few shallow marks, one-off fingerprints

VG+: same, with presence of one or two more significant accident or audible mark, but still an appropriate copy for most audiophile systems

VG : dust, many audible marks, evident signs of listening, not convenient for audiophile listening, or may even be dangerous for expensive cartridges. Put for sale to satisfy specific purposes

SHIPPING

All records are carefully packaged for shipping. Every record is pulled from its main cover (and from inner sleeve if it is a printed one). I use strong cardboard mailer+extra stiffeners.

The shipping costs automatically calculated by eBay are wrong most of the time, as I ship records from France. Be confident in the fact that I’m willing to charge the very lowest rate to the buyer, so you better have to wait for receiving my own final invoice. I will always take into consideration combined shipping for several records. Moreover, I will offer registration for free provided your total amount is over USD100. All parcels in France now have a tracking number, so the advantage of registration is the insured amount.
