Here we have an excellent example of an early Beatles first press - A Collection of Beatles Oldies on yellow and black labels, with clear KT tax code on side 1 and *with the trial Times New Roman font - this makes it one of the earliest first presses ever made!!*
First Press Information (taken from The Beatles Collection) First pressing. December 10, 1966. Black label with yellow logo and silver print. “The Gramophone Co. Ltd.” printed at the start perimeter print and “Sold in U.K. subject…” text. Plain white or sepia “LP advertising” inner sleeve. With or without KT tax code on the label. Matrix numbers: Side 1: YEX 619-1G; Side 2: YEX 620-1G. Variation A. “Oldies but Goldies” came out as Parlophone were producing their Times New Roman typeset runs and most early copies appeared on this label design.

SLEEVE: EX This first edition album cover is in an Excellent condition with MONO printed in large print (top right). The corners are clean with minimal storage wear and the spine can be easily read with no rubbing or damage. There is a small split on the bottom edge (approx. 7cm) but it holds the vinyl well and is a clean storage split. This is a fantastically well looked after album. VINYL: VG Visually there are a few scratches and scuffs on this record and therefore the audio quality is not perfect but it test plays well with no pops or loud crackling. There is one small skip at the beginning of ‘She Loves You’ but the rest of the vinyl plays great with the odd light background crackle. This is a very good playing copy of this original first press. INNER SLEEVE: VG Original, plain, patents applied for inner sleeve, in very good condition. Sleeve has a 7cm spine split on bottom but is fully functional and holds the vinyl well.
