STAN KENTON Presents-1950 78s-Art Pepper Maynard Ferguson Shelly Manne June Christy ECD248
This is the original 1950 release of "Stan Kenton Presents" on 12 inch 78rpm vinyl pressed on the Capitol Label. The album is in very nice condition with some light scuffing and wear. The discs look great with what appears to be nothing more than surface wear.

From the liner notes:
This is a name to be reckoned with in the music of today and tomorrow. It is a name synonymous with music that is modern, vigorous, challenging - the subject of many a heated controversy ... yet music that never fails to inspire enthusiasm in every audience. Perhaps the major key to Stan's amazing success is his capacity to select outstanding talent and inspire it to greater achievement. Stan has never failed to give complete recognition to composers, arrangers, performers, and others who play a part in the conception and presentation of his exciting music. It is in appreciation of some of the most outstanding of these artists that Stan Kenton here proudly presents:

Discs include:
- Maynard Ferguson
- Shelly Manne
- June Christy
- Art Pepper
- Halls of Brass
- House of Strings

From Wikipedia:
Stan Kenton Presents is an album by pianist and bandleader Stan Kenton with his "Innovations" Orchestra featuring performances recorded in 1950 and originally released as 78 RPM records and a 10-inch LP on Capitol before being reissued in 12 inch LP format in 1955.

The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow observed "The soloists (which also include trombonist Milt Bernhart) are very impressive but it is the writing (by Shorty Rogers, Bill Russo, Frank Marks, Johnny Richards and Kenton himself) that is most startling, combining together aspects of modern classical music with the most advanced forms of jazz".

Hey, thanks for taking the time to visit my auction. I'm a stay-at-home mom trying to make extra income on eBay. I have been selling (and buying) since 1999 and truly enjoy the eBay experience. Because I am not an expert in any field, I may omit something which is of importance to you. Please feel free to ask specific questions about the item you are interested in. We are a non-smoking household with one cat. That said, many items are from tag sales, thrift stores, estate sales, etc. and I am not the original owner. I will certainly describe any detectable odors.

My shipping charges are based upon many factors (the time it takes me to do the description, size of the item and the amount of packing materials it will require for it to be "Post Office Proof," gasoline for the car, tape/envelopes, and my time, etc.) and feel that the shipping charges are very fair, so please don't ask me to participate in the "exact postage campaign." Note: eBay has now started charging sellers a 10% final value fee on shipping charges! Payment must be received within 3 days of the close of the auction. If no contact is made from buyer within 48 hours of auction end, item may be relisted or offered to another bidder.

Thank you for your interest in my auction, good luck should you decide to bid.  Peace, Lisa
