‘’You know I have a very good friend. He’s from Ghana on Africa’s west coast. Every now and then we get together and get drunk and tell all kinds of stories but his favourite comes from his grandparents. He tells me how they would talk about the days of the British Empire and how technology filtered through to the villages.

They would look at things like telephones and gramophones and they would call it “white man’s witchcraft”. We always laugh about this because neither of us can use the photocopier at work so we can feel their wonder. Why am I telling you this? Well every now and then Mark Phillips will send me a new 45 created within his musical empire. This time however he has sent me a platter of such genius that I can only sit here and wonder if witchcraft didn’t have a hand in it’s creation. Two slices of Mr Presley, resurrected for the 21st Century whilst leaving both tracks with their musical integrity intact.
The “A” side, Born To Rock was never a favourite of mine as I felt it didn’t flow and if there is such a word it was too “Startstoppy!!”. Well there still are a number of pauses but with his knob twiddling genius he has made this far more friendly to the dancers be them boppers or jivers. Now flip this wax over and that is when I ascend to a musical nirvana. Mark’s reworking of I Got Stung is incredible.

Let’s get this clear, if you are DJing a jive set and this does not crowd the floor, then pack your cases and go home. Many a lady has tried to get me on the floor but my coy nature has prevented this. Put this on the turntable however and I will be begging every red head

to join me in gliding across that honky-tonk hardwood floor.

So without further ado get a copy of this limited edition while you can or you may just find that Elvis has left the building!!!!
