Here is a very nice copy of the Dave Brubeck Quartet's adventures in experimental musical time, Time Out, Columbia Records catalog No. CS 8192. This jazz masterpiece features Dave Brubeck on piano, the great Paul Desmond on saxophone, Eugene Wright on bass and Joe Morello, drums.
This album was one of just 50 records selected by the Library of Congress in 2005 for inclusion in the National Recording Registry, and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This LP features one of the most instantly recognizable - and defiantly different! - jazz compositions of all time, Desmond's "Take Five."
The vinyl is Near Mint Minus (NM-), with a few barely noticeable light surface marks that do not affect play. The Jacket is a solid Very Good Plus (VG+), with a very nice front cover, but some discolorations and a rubber-stamped "0000155" on the back cover.
This LP has been specially cleaned to elicit the best possible sound. Here's how:
This LP began with nice, shiny vinyl. This was enhanced by cleaning on a VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine, rinsing with distilled water, a second vacuuming on the VPI, and then deep-cleaning on an ultrasonic record cleaning system to reduce the amount of groove noise to extremely low levels.
Cleaning a record on a vacuum record cleaning machine such as the VPI 16.5 will remove airborne debris, dirt, fingerprint residue and other environmental contaminants the LP surfaces have accumulated over the years since it was manufactured. You can hear an immediate improvement.
The ultrasonic cleaning goes even further, removing oils, microscopic bits of dirt and even pressing lubricants from the disc mastering process that may be trapped deep within the grooves. This is the sort of debris and junk that other record cleaning systems often fail to remove. Following the ultrasonic cleaning, the LP surfaces will be quieter, perhaps quieter than most other records in your collection.
Ultrasonic cleaning of a vinyl record, especially a near mint copy such as this, removes a lot of grunge and debris from deep in the record grooves, often resulting in cleaner sound, less distortion, greater dynamic range, blacker backgrounds between notes, quieter vinyl surfaces and a lower noise floor. With proper care (maybe an occasional light dusting with an Audioquest record brush) and really excellent playback gear, you will often hear musical details you never noticed before.
This record will ship in a new record mailer, protected by an antistatic record sleeve, a protective outer sleeve, and, where appropriate, cardboard stiffeners and bubble wrap. Thank you for viewing this listing, and good luck bidding!
