The year 1967 is when The Jimi Hendrix Experience took the world by storm releasing their first two albums to universal acclaim. Though the group would release their swansong, and perhaps masterstroke, Electric Ladyland, in October of 1968, Jimi was already prone to jamming with all sorts of other musicians and this classic set at Café Au Go Go on Bleecker St. is arguably the most legendary jam session of his all to brief career. Featuring such stalwarts as Buddy Miles, Elvin Bishop, and Paul Butterfield, this set features bluesy, raw, and stone cold brilliant playing from all involved, but it is Jimi that shines brightest. If you’re gonna own one Jimi Hendrix live set from early in his career, this is the ONE.
