Lot of 31 Beatles Picture Sleeves and 45's Near-Complete Set
The following lot is an instant collection. Most fall in the very strong VG to VG+ range, but there are some fillers. Mostly, the early 45's. These records will have some surface noise and crackling! So if you, or someone you love is struggling with an addiction problem to Beatles vinyl, good. Join the club. Have a look!
1. Four by The Beatles- Scuffs and light scratches. Nothing you can feel with your fingertip. Good shine. Scranton
2. 4-By The Beatles- Lots of light scratches, none you can feel. Writing on Side 1 label. Los Angeles
3. Please Please Me/From Me To You- Lots of scratches, little shine. Grooves are worn. This one will be noisy! Sleeve is solid. No seam splits, but it has yellowed with age. Glue stripes are visible. A few frays on edges, but not bad at all.
4. Do You Want to Know a Secret/Thank You Girl- Vinyl looks very nice. Light hairlines on both sides, plenty of shine left. Harder to find all black label with upper and lowercase font. Sleeve has solid seams, but is fraying with age. Flat-textured, straight-cut top, good condition.
5. Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You- 45 in poor condition. Full groovewear, lots of scratches, some feelable. Your stylus will never speak to you again. Sleeve is also worn. right and left seams are solid, but the bottom seam has a center split about 1 1/2 inches. Heavy ringwear, lots of wrinkles. A starter for sure. Don't worry, few 45's in this lot are like this one.
6. She Loves You/I'll Get You- Average wear, lots of scuffs and scratches. None are feelable. Sticker on A-side label. Sleeve is nicely above average. All seams are razor-sharp with no splits. Top has tiny tears. Sleeve has a slight outdent from the record, light to moderate ringwear and a little foxing on one side. Very nice!
7. My Bonnie/The Saints- First MGM issue, no LP reference on either 45 or sleeve. 45 is pretty clean with light angel hair scratches to both sides. No scuffs. Sleeve is in matching condition, light ringwear and light wrinkling. All seams are solid, no splits, although there is slick loss. A very nice set.
8. I Want to Hold Your Hand/ I Saw Her Standing There- Strong used condition. Tiny hairlines on both sides tilted toward the light. One or two visible scratches. First pressing George Pincus & Sons publishing credit on B-side. Name in pencil on B-side. Scranton. Sleeve is solid with no split seams. There is slick loss to all seams. Sleeve has yellowed. A small area of slick loss on the face of the A-side. Light to moderate ringwear. Straight-cut top. B-side title is the predominant side of the sleeve.
9. A Hard Day's Night/ I Should Have Known Better- 45 has plenty of small, light scratches on both sides, nothing you can feel. A few visible little scuffs. Average condition. Scranton. Sleeve is solid, no seam splits. They are frayed, however. Lots of slick loss to the seams. Tiny name and dates written in ballpoint on both sides, the right-hand emblem is colred in green. Sleeve has moderate ringwear and wrinkling. Not the best condition, but certainly a most-respectable starter sleeve. Straight-cut top east coast sleeve.
10. And I Love Her/If I Fell- A nice 45. Lots of tiny hairline scratches that appear under a light source, otherwise a shiny record. One light scuff on the B-side. Scranton. Sleeve is solid, all seams intact and not split. There is some slick loss to all seams. Light outdent to the sleeve from the record. Light dirtwear and fading, nothing serious. Moderate wrinkling, mostly concentrated at the tops of the sleeve sides. Straight-cut top east coast sleeve.
11. I Feel Fine/She's a Woman- moderate to heavy wear on the 45. Lots of visible, tiny scratches, most are hairlines, but some are not. Writing on A-side label. Consignment pressing from RCA. Sleeve is in about the same condition. Moderate to heavy wrinkling on both sides. The side seams are solid, however, the right and left panels have become unglued. A glue stick will take care of that for you. About a one-inch split to the bottom seam. Straight-cut top. The predominant side of the sleeve features the B-side title.
12. I'll Cry Instead/I'm Happy Just to Dance With You- What is it with these long song titles?! 45 presents pretty well with small scratches to both sides. Plenty of shine. One small scratch is feelable at the end of the A-side. Los Angeles. Sleeve is completely a starter. Name written predominantly on the B-side. Both sides show plenty of wrinkles. Bottom seam is completely split open. Sides are still intact. Straight-cut sleeve has the B-side title on the predominant side.
13. Slow Down/Matchbox- 45 presents very nicely under normal room lighting. Tilted toward the light, you'll find many angel hairs. B-side is written on in red ballpoint. A nice 45! Scranton. Sleeve has light to moderate outdent from the 45, and light ringwear. The side seams are strong and intact, but the bottom seam has a one-inch split at the center. Hardly noticeable unless you flex the sleeve and look for it. Straight-cut east coast sleeve is in overall nice condition.
14. Eight Days a Week/I Don't Want to Type These Long Titles- 45 has moderate amount of light scratches that are visible in normal room lighting. This 45 was definitely played in its day, but certainly not gouged or left on the bedroom floor. Could stand to be upgraded, but isn't trashed. Consignment RCA pressing. Sleeve has moderate ringwear on both sides, light outdent from the 45. And I mean light. Also light wrinkles. All seams are tightly intact, although some slick loss has occured. A very nice-looking sleeve. Straight-cut top east coast has the title on the predominant side.
15. Yesterday/Act Naturally- A very well-cared for 45 indeed. I was tempted to keep this one for my own collection. Presents beautifully under normal room lighting, but has stray angel-hairs under a light source. Scranton. Sleeve has moderate outdent and wrinkling. Both sides have moderate ringwear. Side seams are intact with loss of slick. Bottom seam is frayed, and has a less than one inch split in the center. Straight-cut top east coast sleeve has a price tag on the A-side.
16. Help!/I'm Down With These Short Titles- Nice-looking vinyl, both sides. Under a bright light, you'll see many tiny hairline scratches not visible under normal room lighting. Los Angeles. Sleeve is a very beautiful thumb-tab west coast example. One tiny tear at the top and two tiny staple holes in the top corner kept this sleeve from staying in my collection. Otherwise, this sleeve is very strong. VERY little outdent, ringwear, wrinkles or fading. All the seams are razor-sharp with VERY little slick loss. A bold sleeve.
17. Ticket to Ride/Yes It Is- 45 is in the respectable range. Some light scratches visible under normal room lighting. More appear under a bright light. Consigned pressing through Decca. These are tough to find. Sleeve has moderate ringwear on both sides, but still looks nice. Light outdent from the 45. All seams are strong and intact with no splits. Moderate wrinkling, not bad. Straight-cut top east coast favors the B-side title on its dominant side. A good, strong set.
18. Nowhere Man/What Goes On- 45 would have been a terrific example. A-side looks nearly unplayed, but the B-side has this area of extra-terrestrial cloudiness to it. I play-tested the disc, and it doesn't affect play in the least. It just looks weird. Had it not been for whatever that is, the 45 would look gorgeous. B-side does not credit Starkey. Come to think of it, neither does the A-side. Heh... Scranton. Sleeve has light outdent and ringwear. The top has a one-inch tear that goes through both sides. Staple holes also. The side seams are not split, but the bottom has a one inch center split. Straight-cut top east coast favors the B-side title on its dominant side.
19. Eleanor Rigby/Yellow Submarine- Filler 45. Consignment pressing from RCA with east coast labels. Nuff said, you'll need to replace this one at your convenience. Sleeve is from the west coast with the thumb tab. Both sides have moderate wrinkling, but not heavy by any means. Light to moderate ringwear. That's pretty good, as this sleeve in particular is susceptible to heavy ringwear. All seams are strong and intact. Both sides of this sleeve feature the B-side title.
20. Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane- 45 is in solidly nice condition. Presents well under normal room lighting, but reveals lots of tiny hairlines under a bright bulb. Penny Lane label is the more commonly erroneously listed running time of 3:00. Scranton. Picture sleeve is in that same condition. It presents nicely, but isn't perfect. Light to moderate wrinkling on both sides is what you'd expect to see in a used copy of this sleeve. Panels are beginning to come unglued, so get your glue stick back out, and voila! Small center seam split about a quarter inch. Both side seams are intact. Straight-cut top east coast.
21. All You Need is Love/Baby, You're a Rich Man- 45 is missing, sorry 'bout that. Sleeve is a nice example of the west coast. Thumb tab on B-side. Light to moderate outdent from the 45, light wrinkling to both sides. There is a small tear at the top of the B-side. Light dirtwear, not bad at all. All seams are strong and not split. Price tag from a used record store on the A-side. A really nice sleeve. Hope you have a 45 to go with it.
22. Hello Goodbye/ I Am The Walrus- Acceptable 45. Lots of gloss under normal room lighting, although you can see some hairlines. Many more appear under a bright bulb. Scranton disc credits both sides to Maclen Music. Very rare mono mix, different from the mono mix on the Magical Mystery Tour LP. Ringo's drums and tambourine drop out after the first two "I'm crying." An extra measure of music is inserted before the line, "Yellow Matter Custard." Neither appears on the mono or stereo LP version. The only other place this mix appears in the world is on the original 1967 mono copy of the British E.P. Scranton. The sleeve has moderate outdent and heavy wrinkling at the top of the sleeve, NOT in the body of the sleeve. One seam has a small tear near the top. All seams are intact, and not split, but they do suffer some minor slick loss. Straight-cut top east coast favors the B-side title on its dominant side.
23. Lady Madonna/The Inner Light- Nice-looking 45. A few hairlines are visible under normal room light. More appear under a bright bulb. Good-looking record. The B-side credits George's composition to Maclen Music, rather than his own Harrisongs. The sleeve is pretty worn, compared to the others. That doesn't mean that it's trashed. There is moderate to heavy ringwear. Moderate to heavy wrinkling on both sides. One side seam is split just under an inch in the center. All seams have lost most of the slick. A starter sleeve. The fan club flyer is present, and it is in excellent condition. Straight-cut top east coast favors the B-side title on its dominant side. Replace the sleeve, and you won't have to look for the flyer.
24. The Ballad of John and Yoko/Old Brown Shoe- 45 is a respectable copy. Lots of light scratches and some needle marks are present. Sleeve is in matching condition. There is light to moderate ringwear and light dirtwear. Bottom seam is split about an inch and a half, but the side seams are good. Some yellowing. A sticker stain is present on the B-side. Straight-cut top east coast favors the B-side title on its dominant side.
25. Let It Be/You Know My Name (You Know The Rest)- Nice copy 45 from the Jacksonville plant. Light angel hairs on both sides. Writing on both labels. The sleeve has moderate outdent and wrinkles to both sides. There is an address label on the A-side. Bottom seam is split two inches. Surprisingly, there is very little ringwear, which usually ruins this all-black sleeve. Presents well for that reason. Straight-cut top east coast.
26. The Long and Winding Road/For You Blue- Nice 45, has a few light angel hairs under normal room lighting, and shows not many more under a bright bulb. Scranton. Sleeve is very handsome. There is minimal of everything. Just the slightest hint of yellowing. Seams are strong, razor-sharp and suffer no slick loss. If this sleeve were a shade lighter, it would look almost as it did sitting in the bin at the record shop in 1970. Almost. Straight-cut top east coast.
27. Also included in this lot are:
Two copies of "Get Back." One is the first pressing LA, Capitol logo at the bottom of B-side. The other is the 1971 LA pressing with "Mfd. by Apple Records, Inc" on the A-side. Both are near mint on the vinyl. 1971 issue has red writing on both sides.
One copy of "Something/Come Together." This is the consigned pressing from RCA, which features no ridges around the labels. Both labels are written on modestly in ballpoint. VG to VG=.
Two copies of "Hey Jude/Revolution." Both are 1968 issues, one with the Capitol logo at the bottom of the B-side, and the other with "Mfd. by Apple Records, Inc" at the bottom of the B-side label. One is VG-, the other VG+.
