Elvis Presley HMV LP 1956 12" UK Mono Pressing CLP 1093 Rock'n'Roll 1st Press. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class. You are bidding on a UK Mono copy of Elvis Presley Rock'n'Roll on the HMV label. RCA released the first Elvis releases in the UK on license through the HMV label. Released in 1956 this copy is a 1956 first pressing. It was also Elvis' very first album.
Stamper numbers 2XAV 255-1N and 2XAV 256 -1N
HMV's licence expired in 1958 and their entire catalogue was deleted meaning albums like this one were only on sale for a year or so. It therefore stands to reason that original HMV Elvis product in top condition commands premium prices from collectors. The LP on sale here is not in top condition but I would still grade the vinyl as VG. Despite visual scuffs and marks it plays through well with no skips or jumps, some light crackle, pops and ticks in places but of the 'atmospheric authenticity' variety rather than anything annoying that would spoil listening pleasure. In fact it is very listenable and retains that great sound you only get on the HMV pressings. Good fidelity and deep bass tone. A testament to the pressing quality of HMV releases. What HMV didn't do so well was produce hardwearing sleeves. HMV sleeves are notorious for how thin the card is and many have been treated with running repairs over the years. This one is no exception and has several internal repairs on the inside of the opening where small tears have occurred. Despite being a little dog eared this sleeve is at least complete, which is always a bonus with HMV sleeves, many which have chunks missing. It is still more than capable of housing the record. All things considered it is in reasonably good shape for a 64 year old HMV sleeve.
The labels are both in excellent condition and as a further bonus it still has it's original poly lined inner sleeve in great condition.  All in all a respectable enough copy, but by no means mint, as indicated in the photographs. There would certainly be no shame in having this LP as part of your collection. It's like holding a piece of history and if you are an Elvis fan the feeling as you slip this LP onto the turntable is like travelling back in time to when it all first began. Priceless!
There are many worse examples out there with a much higher starting price. A good chance to include an acceptable copy of this record in your collection without having to pay the big money needed for a pristine copy and at a sensible start price.
