Now-Again records – Eothen Alapatt aka ‘Egon’ founded the record label in 2002 in Los Angeles whilst running the infamous Stones Throw label simultaneously.
He focuses on reissues of music from the 1950’s to the present day  and the label represents a wealth of discographies that range from Nigerian fuzz-funk to Swedish hard rock to Brasilian psychedelia to the jazz, funk, soul and disco that Egon is known for. These records are always on rotation at the restaurant.
Whenever he is in town, usually with his partner in crime, Madlib, they always find a moment to visit us on Columbia Road. Like his record label, his knowledge of wine and food runs deep. It’s always a good evening when they drop in and we are really proud to be able to offer a selection for sale here.
The Split Decsion Band
The Split Decision Band have been known to deep soul, funk and disco collectors for decades for their sought after 7” “Watching Out/Dazed,” long thought to be the band’s only recordings. Egon tracked down Split Decision Band’s vocalist and songwriter Gordon Starr Flipping in the hopes of more and got it – with Watching Out, Now-Again presents a never-before-released album of devastatingly good disco and boogie from the unlikely city of Des Moines, Iowa. Flipping’s collaborations with Prince made him a Midwestern legend, but his band’s music is more than an urban tall tale – this album finally proves to the world their merits.
