Led Zeppelin - II

(Atlantic K40037 UK LP 1969)

This is a rare transitional UK pressing from early 1972. It is technically a 1st UK "Kinney" pressing. This is where distribution of Atlantic records changed in the UK from "Polydor" to "Warner Bros". It has a heavyweight matt gatefold sleeve which has a dark brown colouration. Interestingly, this is an earlier Polydor or "plum Atlantic" pressed UK sleeve. It has the old "588 198" Atlantic catalogue number on the spine & inner gatefold. It comes with its original company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has dark green & orange "Atlantic" labels. Interestingly, again, the record has two sets of matrix numbers. It has the new Kinney matrix numbers, but also has the original Polydor distributed matrix numbers too.

Side 1: K40037 A (588198 A-5)
Side 2: K40037 B (588198 B-4)

A stated, this is a 1st UK "Kinney" pressing from 1972. It is a transitional pressing too. Definitely the next best thing to plum Atlantic UK original pressings.

Gatefold Sleeve: There is a small 3 cm area of rubbing wear & scratch marks at the bottom of the front sleeve opening edge - at the corner tip area. There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips, top & bottom edges. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the spine on some edges. There is some light, mild or more moderate ringwear on the rear sleeve. VG condition

Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There is a small area of more moderate light surface rubs marks on one side. There are 3 light hairline marks. These measure from 1 cm to 3 cm in length.  VG+ condition. The labels are in near excellent condition & show mild spindle wear. The company paper inner sleeve is in VG+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall, & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in a few quieter places.
