Rare EMG Davey Cutter for producing gramophone needles from fibrous materials like Bamboo.
When Most people think about the old wind-up gramophones they think of the needles that were used as being made of steel. However, there was at least one company that used needles made of fibre and that was EMG Hand-made Gramophones who built top of the range acoustical gramophones. The firm was founded in 1923 by Ellis Michael Ginn (EMG).
The Davey cutter was introduced so that you could cut your own needles and it was so designed that it cut the end of fibre needle to the correct angle to play the record.
These needle cutters are quite rare.
The cutter is 3 inches (8 cm) long and is complete. Solidly made and in excellent condition throughout.
