Shirley Hughey recorded this hypnotic slice of psychedelia at Harry Deal’s Galaxie III Studios in Taylorsville in 1969, and it was issued on the Bandit label in May of that year. As it turns out, she recorded her vocal having never met the band cut the backing track—Hendersonville, NC's Orange Purple Marmalade!

The Allan Sisters were originally from Edmonton, Alberta. Jackie had begun singing at the age of seven and was later joined by sister Coralie for shows in Alberta. Eventually the duo would move to Toronto to try and foster this talent into a career. "I'm In With The Downtown Crowd" is a Northern Soul gem, originally released on Quality in September 1966.
