DESCRIPTION

Clea Bradford with Oliver Nelson & Clark Terry - “Clea Bradford with Oliver Nelson & Clark Terry” Prestige New Jazz NJ 8320 (Mono) from 1964. Great and super Hard To Find Original First Pressing Female Jazz Vocal Album from Clea Bradford backed by Oliver Nelson and Clark Terry and featuring George Duvivier, Patte Bown, Chauncey “Lord” Westbrook and Billy English. Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder as indicated by the “RVG” Machine Stamped in the Runout Vinyl. This is actually a reissue of the 1961 TRU-15005 release “These Dues” on the Tru-Sound label (a Prestige off shoot label). First Pressing (of this version) on the Dark Blue with Silver Print Prestige label in the Original Cover with NO Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode!

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some basic shelf wear and corner softening / wear. There is a ding about 1/2 way on the opening edge with a 1/4” tear, pretty minor. Still nice with no splits, writing, cutouts, stains, etc. and I would rate it VG. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition. There are some scuffs and light hairlines - no actual scratches, i.e. something that can be felt with a fingernail. There is a slight warp or dip on the last song on Side 2 (not sure how you get a dip in that position and only on one side? Maybe a pressing flaw?) that does not affect play and shouldn’t on any but the most sensitive turntables. Plays well, mostly VG+ or better but with some light groove noise and soft tics in spots, nothing that really detracts. Not an audiophile's dream but a good listen and I would rate it VG and it mostly plays better. The labels show a couple light spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
