After several recent questions as to why I don’t ‘grade’ my records and what are the costs for combined postage, hopefully everything you need is here:

I don’t grade anything I sell as such because everybody’s idea of NM, VG+,G- and everything in between seems to be quite different. I’m only human and try my best to describe things accurately, but I’m not a business nor do I intend to be, as I’m selling my personal collection accumulated over hundreds of years. I think I have about 600 more records to list on top of those already on eBay, then that’s it.

As I understand it, the official gradings are:

Mint-The record looks un-played and in brand new condition.

Nr Mint-The record has probably only been played a couple of times (if at all) and may have a couple of very light marks which do not affect the playing quality at all

Excellent-The record may have slight wear but should still have good sound quality. It may have some light scratches or light marks but no heavy scratches

VG-The record has obviously been played several times and has either scratches or marks but should still play fine (possibly with some crackle,pops,clicks)

Good-The record has been well played and has several scratches-should still play but probably has lots of noise or even jumps or sticks

Poor-Tatty and really only suitable as a gap filler

My gradings are:

Sealed = Mint

Unplayed, no signs of usage = Nr Mint

Hardly any signs of usage = Ex+ maybe better

Has some light usage signs = VG+ to EX- maybe better

Quite a few marks but plays fine = VG maybe VG+

Lots of marks = VG-

Anything less has been binned.
