DESCRIPTION

Marlene Dietrich - “Dietrich In Rio” Columbia Adventures In Sound Records WL 164 (Mono) from 1960(?). Hard to Find Original Deep Groove First Pressing of this great Live Chanson / Vocal album from Marlene Dietrich. Recorded in 1959 with Musical Supervision by Burt Bachrach which, while not spelled out, Dietrich mentions that he is her Accompanist and did the Arrangements and maybe he Conducts the Orchestra as well? Some sources say these are actually New York studio recordings overdubbed with crowd noise? First pressing on the Deep Groove Gold with Black Print Columbia “Adventures In Sound" labels - equivilent to Columbia “6-Eye” labels - and in the Original Sleeve with no Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode. Includes the Original Inner Sleeve with Photos and extensive Notes.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some fairly slight shelf wear and corner softening. There is a name written along the opening edge twice on the back in pen. Still super solid with no cutouts, splits, stains, other writing, tears, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition. There are some scuffs and hairlines - no actual scratches - i.e. something you can feel with a fingernail. Side 1 plays pretty much perfectly Near Mint with maybe a soft tic or 2, Side 2 plays well with some slight groove noise crackle and occasional soft tics - nothing distracting, no loud pops, skips, etc. A good player, would rate VG overall, mostly plays better and might be improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The labels are Near Mint. The inner sleeve shows some “age spotting”, light wrinkling and ring impression but is at least VG.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. I provide Play Grades as a courtesy but only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
