DESCRIPTION

Jackie Paris - “The Song Is Paris” Impulse Records A-17 / AS-17 (Stereo) from 1962. Hard to Find 1971 (copyright date) repressing of this great 1962 Jazz Vocal album from Jackie Paris. Arranged and Conducted by Bobby Scott. Produced by Bob Thiele and featuring players like Phil Bodner, Barry Galbraith, George Duvivier, Hal  McKusick, Hank Jones, Roy Haynes, Sol Gubin, Ted Sommer, Jack Lesberg, Bill Hammond, clyde Reasinger, Al Di Risi, Romeo Penque and more. In the Original Laminated Gatefold Sleeve with no Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode. The Cover shows the Catalog Number as “A-17” while the Labels call it “AS-17”. On the Black with Red Rim Impulse Stereo labels with the double ® registered trademark, one either side of the logo boxes and “A Product of ABC Records Inc. © 1971” at the bottom. Mastering was done by Rudy Van Gelder as evidenced by the Runout Vinyl Matrixes that read:

CONDITION

The Laminated Gatefold Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight shelf wear, corner softening and a bit of laminate lifting around the corners. Still super solid with no cutouts, splits, stains, writing, tears, etc. and would rate VG+. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition looking pretty lightly played. If you look closely you can spot a few slight scuffs and hairlines. Visually VG+, plays at least VG+ to Near Mint all through with the exception of a couple spots of very slight groove noise - I doubt you would notice them and might be improved by a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. There are a couple light spindle trails  but otherwise the labels are Near Mint.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. I provide Play Grades as a courtesy but only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
