Back in 2011, Ali Mackenzie, lead singer of the legendary BIRDS, got together with The Small Fakers, the UK's ONLY tribute to the sensational SMALL FACES, to knock out some choice sides in the studio. We all know and love the incredible '66 track, "That's All I Need You For", but frustratingly, only a segment survives as part of the film, The Deadly Bees, and it's interspersed with some intrusive dialogue. So Ali and the lads decided to commit a full version to tape, alongside a spirited run-through of Tim Hardin's "If I Were A Carpenter" (also covered by the Small Faces back in the day), and issued them as a limited edition vinyl 7".
In agreement with Ali's family, £5 from each copy sold will be donated to charity, and I can't think of a better cause right now than the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.
