Beatles E.P. MONO Magical Mystery Tour Original 1967 VG STARTER
Booklet: Definitely yellowed. Light to moderate wear all around. Center lyrics page is attached, but slightly loose. Front inner flap has two names in cursive ballpoint. Back inner flap has one.
Vinyl: Both vinyl E.P.’s are in a very strong VG or on the weak side VG+ condition. There are numerous very light scratches, but with more shine than scratches on each side. I suspect that these sides will play with light to moderate surface noise, since Parlophone platters hold up very well against light scratches.
MONO mixes of both “Blue Jay Way” and “I Am The Walrus” are different than the stereo mixes.
Labels: All four labels retain their plugs. All plugs have the price conditions disclaimer, missing from reissues. All plugs have light spindle marks. Side 2 label has the name “Carlos” in ballpoint, and the Side 3 label has a small “x” in ballpoint. Hard to see against the black labels.
As with the original British issues of “Magical Mystery Tour,” only ONE catalogue number appears on the labels, prefixed with “7XCE.” 70’s reissues carried two catalogue numbers, adding the “7YCE” in the case of stereo issues.
Plates: All four dead waxes carry the “KT” stamps, whereas the 70’s issues only had two sides, one per disc. All four sides have first-issue stamp codes that are missing on 70’s reissues. They are as follows:
Side 1: G.
Side 2: PP
Side 3: GR
Side 4: RA
Sleeves: Rice paper sleeves, no splits.
You’re certainly welcome to upgrade if so inclined, but it may slip under the wire of not needing it as a solid play copy, unless you’re a Near Mint condition collector, like me.
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
