"Hey Hey Rise Up" is the first original sound source for the band to record together for the first time in 28 years since "The Division Bell" in 1994. Long-time Pink Floyd bassist Guy Pratt, with Nitein Thorny on the keyboard, featuring the exceptional vocal performance of Ukrainian band Boombox's Andriy Khlyvnyuk. There is. When the song was first recorded at the end of March, Andrew's Church left the boombox US tour and joined the territorial defense force while being hospitalized in Kieu's hospital for a shrapnel injury from an interceptor. The British newspaper The Independent describes it as "an unusual protest song released in an extraordinary era," and The Times newspaper describes it as "a deep sense of urgency and deep emotion . "

The coupling song for both analog and CD formats is also special. David Gilmour revisited "A Great Day For Freedom," which was recorded in "The Division Bell" in 1994 and sang about freedom and hope after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Nick Mason. Created a new "2022 version" by modifying the original tape with the participation of Mason (drum), Richard Wright (keyboard), Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine, and Daga McBloom (back vocal). rice field.

In 1994, Gilmour said:

"It was a great moment when the Berlin Wall collapsed. Eastern Europe was freed from the undemocratic side of the socialist system, but their lives don't seem to have improved at all. I do everything again. I'm pretty pessimistic. Sometimes I want to live with hope, but I tend to feel that history is moving at a much slower pace than we think. Real change. I feel like it will take a long time . "

He commented on the inspiration for "Hey Hey Rise Up."

"As with any war, the war that begins with one of the world's superpowers invading a democratic independent nation can't help but anger and dissatisfaction. As I said, I have a little connection to that country. My daughter-in-law was from Ukraine. And the members of the band Boombox have been acquainted for a while. One person is another democratic independence. It feels terrible pain, irritation and resentment to have the power to invade a nation and kill its people. It's just incredibly unpleasant. "

The artwork uses the work "The Sunflower Look" by Cuban artist Yosan Leon. Featuring a painting of the Ukrainian national flower sunflower, a video watched around the world telling Russian soldiers to hand over sunflower seeds and carry them in their pockets so that they can grow when they die. Dedicated to the women who appear.
