Vinyl has been tested using an inexpensive Crosley turntable with plastic stylus. This record plays through without skips or snags but is not recommended for audiophiles seeking a high grade copy for expensive playback systems. There’s noise plus obvious visual physical flaws common to used vintage vinyl of this age and popularity but the overall affect tends to blend with this Heavy Metal music style. The noise to signal level ratio is most apparent during “Rat Salad” which presents a soft instrumental passage in juxtaposition to the remaining songs. Oddly enough, the defects appear to add rather than distract from tracks meant to be played loud and intentionally disturbing. In my opinion, the condition ranges between VG and Good+ conservatively graded according to gold mine standards as outlined below. This record has been hand cleaned using alcohol and a soft cloth but is likely to acquire dust during packaging and would benefit from machine cleaning and brushing prior to use.

The album cover is low grade and well worn as shown with a name inked on the front and a homemade sticker on the back bearing a different name and information. The fold out design presents top left and right splits of approximately 1 inch each. The inner paper sleeve is original and low grade presenting a side split and bottom split of approximately 4 inches each.

VERY GOOD vinyl shows visual defects commonly including light scratches, groove wear, and reduced gloss which translate as audible detractions such as noise, pops, and increased noise to signal ratios that are especially noticeable during soft passages and a song’s intro/ending.

GOOD+ fits the criteria for Good but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves quality by a perceptible amount.

GOOD vinyl plays through without skipping but has significant surface noise and groove wear plus low gloss.
