Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper MONO 1967 First Pressing NICE COPY!

Some cool discrepancies to listen for, which don’t appear on the stereo mix:

“Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” adds phase shifting (swirling effect) to John’s and Paul’s vocals in the choruses.

“Fixing a Hole” has Ringo’s drums and percussion track right up front.  By far, most Beatles fans and musicians have NO idea how tasty and playful this performance from Ringo is.  While “Rain” was aggressive and tasteful, this one is light, playful and extremely tasteful.  One of my favorite Ringo drum performances that shuts people up when they say how lucky Ringo was to be a Beatle.  This performance was buried in the stereo mix.

“Sgt. Pepper Reprise” This mix is fascinating for how clumsy it is.  You can clearly hear tapes starting up with warble, talking on the track and instead of four drum beats before Paul counts in, there are six!  And best yet, inside those extra beats is the same audience laughter heard at the beginning of the album.  This mix is SO strange that I was actually disappointed in 1980 that it was not included in the Capitol Rarities release.

Vinyl--- Not NM, but very nice.  Under a bright bulb, you can see by far mostly shine, and a moderate amount of very light angel hairs.  Not perfect, but really nice!  Don't be misled by the photos.  Scratches are light and very difficult to photograph.  I tried!

Plates--- G22/ G16 Jacksonville copy.

Cover--- Structurally solid.  NO splits.  Bottom seam has shelfwear.  Back slick has ripples, top and bottom edges, probably from being stored in a warm environment at some point. Gatefold has a two-inch center seam split. Moderate ringwear to front and back covers.

Insert--- Nice, flat and glossy.  VERY light record outdent.  A few light finger divots.  Overall in very nice condition!

Labels--- Excellent.  First pressing side 1 label, incorrectly lists the second track as “A Little Help From My Friends.” Some wear around the playhole on both sides, and that’s it.  NO spindle marks.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Also very nice.  Previous owner stored it inside the gatefold, and kept the record inside the pocket.  Small split less than one inch to the bottom seam.  Otherwise nice and flat.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
