MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original MCA Records very first split PROMOTIONAL Stereo press released by MCA Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1976 by Discos Philips, licensed from MCA Records Inc., USA, catalog number MCS-9402, with hand etched matrix numbers MCS-9402-A MSM-CD in Side A and MCS-9402-B MSM-CD in Side B, with traditional black/rainbow MCA Records labels and solid center. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “15-12-79” (December 15th of 1979). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

The first to tell about this split single is that as far as I know it was RELEASED ONLY IN CHILE and includes in Side A the song “The Hula Hoop Song” by Teresa Brewer and “When” by Kalin Twins, both songs originally released in 1958. Song titles are written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters, play time of each song and additional information about licenses. If you know these singles then you could have already noticed that in this Chilean issue the credits for the chorus and orchestra conducted by Dick Jacobs in “The Hula Hoop Song” and for the instrumental accompaniment directed by Jack Pleis in “When” are omitted. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE SPLIT SINGLE with these classic 1958 hits by Teresa Brewer and Kalin Twins, with Spanish-written song titles and the stamp “PROMOCIONAL – PROHIBIDA SU VENTA” (Promotional – Sale Forbidden) in Side B!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Teresa Brewer, Kalin Twins and early days of Rock’N’Roll music!!!

This record doesn’t have a cover. The record is in EX+ or NM- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with only some soft scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX+ or NM- condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong VG+ or EX- condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant very soft crackles and some occasional light clicks here and there, and in EX or EX+ condition the Side B, with only very soft and barely audible soft crackles, more evident in the last seconds of each song, which of course don’t cause any distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great split record in this UNIQUE PROMOTIONAL PRESS ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE, with a very nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 46 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this PROMO Chilean record, ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

 

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

GBP15 for weight until 0,5kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending on thickness of the vinyl/sleeve)

GBP25 for weight 0,5-1kg (usually 2 to 5 records 12" depending on thickness of the vinyl/sleeve)

GBP10 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
