Beatles LP 1st Press 1966 Revolver W/SCARCE HYPE STICKER & Klaus Voorman Signature!

READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

For those unfamiliar, although I’m sure most collectors are at this point, Klaus Voorman was the artist who had designed the Revolver album cover.  He was also a friend of The Beatles since the Hamburg days.  He was also the bass guitarist for several artists, including Manfred Mann, a few of John’s albums, a few of Ringo’s best albums, a few of George’s best albums, as well as guesting on albums by some other very prominent artists.  Google him, and have fun spotting some albums in your classic rock collection on which he played.

His signature is on a separate card that was sold from his personal website.  It is boldly signed, “To Vicky.  All the best Klaus” Definitely live blue-green ink.  His signature has always been very clear and distinguished.  I have provided a comparison photo from the internet.  That signature is NOT part of this auction.

So with THAT said…

Vinyl--- EXCELLENT.  Side 1 is Excellent, looks nearly unplayed, with just one extremely light, short line in the grooves.  Side 2 has a few very light, very long scuffs that you cannot feel with your fingertip.  See photos.

Plates--- W9/W7.  This is a consigned pressing from Columbia Records.  The concentric groove on the label is thin and closer to the edge of the label, making this copy pressed specially by Columbia Records.

Cover--- EXCELLENT.  Still in the shrinkwrap, the cover looks very nice, with the exception of it being a little dusty in a few areas.  Shrinkwrap has a tear to the bottom edge on the back cover, just a couple inches long.  With the exception of some slick loss where the shrink has split, the seams are all muscular-strong, NO SPLITS!  Not even almost.  A little dirty push-in to the top right corner, not bad.

Hype Sticker--- Nice VG+.  Just a little dirtwear.  Otherwise, the sticker retains its color, and the black text is still punchy-bold, no flaking off of the lettering.  You can try to clean the dirt away, but I’m not going to attempt it!

Labels--- NM both sides.  1966-brand new-looking.  Please note:  These labels are slightly textured, as opposed to the smooth and glossy labels we know from Capitol Records.  The specs shown in the photos are reflections off of the textured labels.  This is not dust!

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Yellow Capitol inner sleeve is present and in EXCELLENT condition.  The sleeve looks like it was just printed.  All corners are razor-sharp and the sleeve is flat, free from any finger divots at all!  Its only issue is that there is a half-inch center seam split to the bottom seam.  Otherwise, this inner sleeve is perfect.

RIAA: 5.  Collectors will know how scarce that is.

Be sure to check out the other records for sale this week.  All are rare.  You might find the perfect gift for your hard-to-shop-for loved one, or you may find a very cool gem for your own collection.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
