For sale is vinyl record by Journey titled "Departure", originally released in 1980 by Columbia Records. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 1-E/1-F, followed by machine stamped logo that looks like "Two Sticks and Circles", but actually are two circles, representing a disc, with an old-fashioned circumference guage completing the "A" of the logo, followed by "GF", along with an upper case "T1" and a lower case "o", indicating that this record was mastered at Artisan Sound Recorders of Hollywood, California, by Greg Fulginiti, then lacquered at Columbia Record's Customatrix before earlier stampers were used to press this album at Columbia Records' pressing plant, located in Terre Haute, Indiana. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering that are known for their superior sound quality, sought after by collectors and music lovers alike. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the record. The inner sleeve is graded as Near Mint. The cover is graded as Very Good because of corner blunts, some of which have begun to fray, edge rubs, stress cracks along the spine, ring wear and a small dent in the middle of the top seam. The spine has color loss at the corners from blunts and along the edges from rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint, with surfaces that are shiny and bright, in a like-new condition, without any sleeve marks, scuffs, surface scratches or scrapes. I'm play grading this record between Excellent and Near Mint Minus because of occasional super low level surface noise, mostly between tracks and noticeable during the quiet sections of playback. None of which over-powers the music or the vocals. It's been played on state-of-the-art audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life left to it. I have other Rock and Roll records, as well as albums of all different genres, listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
