A detailed, comprehensive and colour illustrated guide to The Beatles United Kingdom collectable first release musicassettes issued from 1968 to beginning of 1972. This guide will help you identify the valuable and sought after first release issues of each of The Beatles UK cassette albums and distinguish these 1968-1971 first releases from the many re-issued cassettes, in many varied designs, that were made from January 1972, when the "music- on-the-move" market for the new cassette music format suddenly exploded in popularity.

NOTE: This guide deals only with the collectable, first release edition Beatles cassettes that were drip-fed by a wary EMI to the public, during the period 1968 to the end of 1971.  All regular Beatles albums are included, along with Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine, the only two Beatles album cassettes to be released for the first time at a later date, 1973 and 1974 respectively.

Because of EMI's wary and tentative approach into what was then an unknown market, these particular Beatles cassettes are few in number - not many were manufactured,  and they therefore attracted the attention of collectors - with resultant high values. They certainly appear only very occasionally in E Bay listings and differ markedly in design and desirability terms, from the myriad of reissues sold from 1972 to the mid-1990s when the format surrendered to the compact disc for the public's taste. Values of the earlier, first issue, 1968-1971 Beatles cassettes have risen strongly in the last few years.
