Deep Purple - Fireball

(Harvest Records SHVL 793 UK LP 1971)

This is a 1971 UK 1st Press LP. It has a heavyweight fully textured gatefold sleeve. This has only one card glue strip on the inside of the sleeve opening. This is glued internally at the top. Only 1st UK pressings have this sleeve variation. It has a period, early 1970's, record shop sticker on the rear sleeve. It has its original polythene-lined "Harvest" company inner sleeve. This advertises other Harvest LP's available to buy at the time. It has its original Lyric Insert. This is printed on thick paper. It has purple print on both sides.

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has 1st press A-2U/ B-3U matrix stampers. "PEK" is etched in the dead wax on Side 1. The Harvest labels have "The Gramophone Co..." text around the upper perimeter. There is one boxed "EMI" logo.

This is a genuine UK 1st pressing with the earliest sleeve variation. It has "The Gramophone Co..." text and the insert has purple print on both sides. It also has the earliest matrix numbers. These are getting rare nowadays.

Gatefold Sleeve: There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear on the bottom edges. There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the top edges on some areas. There is mild, moderate or considerable rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges. This is mainly on the rear part of the sleeve. There is mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the spine on some areas. The spine text is mainly legible.  As stated, it has a period record shop sticker on the rear sleeve. There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips. The inner gatefold is nice & clean overall. There is mild, very mild or more moderate ringwear on some areas. This is mainly on the rear sleeve. There are no seam splits. Overall,  Good+ condition

Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. There is one light 4 cm surface hairline mark. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good condition. The labels are in Very Good++ condition. There is some mild to more moderate spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

The Lyric Insert is in Very Good+ condition. There is one mild crease. There are a couple of finger tip sized stains.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle noticeable in some quieter places. Overall, a very serviceable audio copy.
