Guisando (literally "cooking up a stew") is the third studio album of Willie Colón & Héctor Lavoe issued in 1969 by Fania Records. Guisando was the first Colón-Lavoe album in which they shared the credits and the album cover (which was Colón’s second favorite in terms of design). The Latin jazz / salsa track “I Wish I Had A Watermelon” is a response to the 1962 instrumental “Watermelon Man” by Herbie Hancock and Mongo Santamaría’s subsequent cover version. Features great solo by Mark Dimond on “Te Están Buscando” (with lyrics warning Mark to be careful carrying the drugs because the police will bust him). Crazy, raw trombone solos by Willie Colón throughout. “The Colón band did not seem to have a problem with another trip into the studio. ... Consequently, they were more than up for rushing back to the studio to record Guisando. Guisando was sticking very close to the gangster-tough guy imagery that had powered the first two albums, but there was a progression in the works: smoother production values and, by degrees, a more worldly outlook. …”  Marc Shapiro: Passion and Pain: The Life of Hector Lavoe (2007).
