MANOLO GAS
& THE TINTO BAND GANG
“A TODO GAS”
MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original very first STEREO press released in Chile in 1976 by Polydor Records “Serie Normal”, produced and distributed by Discos Philips (Philips Records), licensed from Polydor Records, Spain, through the Deutsche Grammophon Ges., Germany, catalog number 23 85 111, with hand etched matrix numbers 2385 111-A EB-CD in Side 1 and 2385 111-A EB-CD in Side 2, with traditional red/black Polydor Records labels. It’s interesting to notice that in both sides in the deadwax it’s written the exact date of pressing, “27-9-76” (September 27th of 1976). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER GREAT FIND from Chile!!!
“A TODO GAS” was originally released in 1976 in Spain and we didn’t have to wait much to see this great record here in Chile, because the same year Philips Records released it in Chile. And we got it like many cases of that period with and UNIQUE COVER!!! In Chile the cover is a flipback cover made with a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle, with back cover pasted in the flaps of front cover. Both front and back covers keep strictly the original artwork. In back cover you can read the tracklist and full credits, including all musicians. In labels the album and song titles keep the same original language, Spanish or English, with full credits for songwriters and additional credits for Manolo Gas as producer, arranger and director, and information about licenses. You can also notice an error in the credits of “QUIZAS, QUIZAS, QUIZAS”, they are misspelled in both back cover and label. In back cover it’s written “FARRERES/DAVIS” and in label “FARRERES/DAVID”, but the correct credits should be “FARRES/DAVIS”, because the Cuban composer Osvaldo Farrés wrote this song and the English lyrics were written by Joe Davis. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this classic album by Spanish musician Manolo Gas, a record almost never seen and maybe now auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Manolo Gas and Latin Jazz/Soul music!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, clean, no missing parts, no writings, no seam splits, no blemishes, with some creases and light ring marks, more evident in back cover, moderate wear in all edges and corners, a name written with blue pencil in front cover, a mark in back cover, hidden with black pen close to the catalog number at right top corner and writings in each song “R-B” or “L-B”, hard to see thanks to the black color. The record is in EX or EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with many scuffs and hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which of course don’t affect sound at all. Labels on both sides are in NM- or NM condition, clear and clean, with only minimal spindle hole wear, more evident in Side 1. The sound is a great surprise, it’s in strong NM- or even NM condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), with very light occasional crackles here and there, barely audible, which don’t cause any distraction from the superb sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with a very nice look, almost immaculate labels and with still a great sound quality after about 47 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this album almost never seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile
_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record
itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound
quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing
the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or
poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but
there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which
doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or
creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but
displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface
marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra
items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has
noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The
cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits,
discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for
properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface
noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
