FOUR TOPS
“EL SHOW DEBE CONTINUAR”
(THE SHOW MUST GO ON)
Maxi Single 12” – 45RPM
WOW!! MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original ABC Records original Promotional Stereo 12” Single very first press released by ABC Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1977 by Industria De Radio Y Televisión S.A. (IRT Records), licensed from ABC Records Inc., USA, catalog number DM-6, with hand etched matrix numbers DM-6-A MSM-CD in Side A and DM-6-A MSM-CD in Side B, with orange/black ABC Records labels. It’s very interesting that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “30-10-77” (October 30th of 1977). Yes Sirs, WHAT A FIND!!! Another rare Chilean press of, this time, a great 12” Maxi!!!
“THE SHOW MUST GO ON” was originally released in 1977 and the same year we got this 12” single released here in Chile, exclusive for radio stations. 12” singles made in Chile are really almost impossible to find and in this case this 12” single has a white generic cover, I was informed it’s the original cover the radio station received, but I’m not sure, I’ve seen generic covers of 12” singles with a design of a couple dancing and the title “Disco Single”, so this white cover doesn’t seem to be the original cover in my opinion. In labels the song title is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters, producer and arranger. Both sides have the same song. If you know this 12” single you will know the original US issue has the Stereo version in Side A and the Mono version in Side B. Here in Chile, both sides are the Stereo version (you can check and compare in this link: ). So, yes Sirs again, ANOTHER GREAT FIND from Chile, a very rare issue of “The Show Must Go On” in format 12” single and with both sides playing the same song in Stereo, UNIQUE ISSUE WORLDWIDE!!! WOW!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in a great EX or EX+ condition, complete with only very light wear in corners, some faint blemishes and a very light ring marks, but no rips, no seam splits, no writings, with a soft age browning. The record is in VG+ or EX- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with light scuffs and hairlines, and very soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in absolute EX+ or NM- condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear, no writings or marks of any kind. The sound is in strong NM- or NM condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with very light occasional crackles here and there, hard to hear if you are not looking for them, and in EX or EX+ condition the Side B, similar to Side A but with a bit more audible crackles, which don’t cause any distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end, but I’d recommend a vacuum cleaning anyway. Overall, a rare 12” single released in Chile, maybe not for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but a nice addition to all Four Tops, R&B and disco fans and collectors, a record rarely seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! AMAZING FIND FROM CHILE AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile
_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record
itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound
quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing
the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or
poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but
there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which
doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or
creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but
displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface
marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or
extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has
noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The
cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits,
discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for
properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface
noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
