JERRY WILLIAMS

“LEADER OF THE PACK”

WOW! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original ASFONA Records very first “MONO Standard” press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1973 by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA” M.R. (ASFONA Records), licensed from “Sonet Repertoire” (Sonet Records), catalog number VBP-397, with hand etched matrix number VBP-397-A MN-CD in Side 1 and VBP-397-B MN-CD in Side 2, with blue/black ASFONA Records labels!!! Yes, Sirs, another FIND from Chile by the very first time in eBay!!!

“LEADER OF THE PACK” was originally released in 1970 in Sweden and I don’t really know how this record could be released here when it didn’t even charted in Sweden, but in 1973 this album was released here in Chile and like in most of the cases of that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER, so usual in Chile those years, made of two single sheets of a very thin paper for front and back covers and kept held by a plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork with album title written in English only. Back cover also keeps the original artwork, but here in Chile it’s only black and white, with album title and tracklist written in English only and the ASFONA Records credits at bottom edge. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters. It’s interesting to notice that in back cover the sides are identified as “Side 1” and “Side 2” but in labels they are only “A” and “B”. So, yes Sirs, one more time a VERY RARE RECORD with UNIQUE COVER and very few copies pressed!!! ANOTHER GREAT FIND that you can’t miss if you know and like Jerry Williams, the Swedish singer who even toured with The Beatles in Sweden!!! WOW!!! This album didn’t charted but it’s a bunch of the rock’n’roll style he made famous in Sweden in the ‘60’s!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, with moderate wear in all edges and corners, with some little rips and creases, but no writings, no marks of any kind, no blemishes, sure it’s almost a miracle this so fragile cover had survived so many years in this great condition. The record is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with many scuffs, hairlines and soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great VG+ or EX- condition both sides, clean and clear, with some general wear and spindle hole wear, with a name written in Side B. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), loud, clear and clean, with constant soft crackles and some occasional light pops and clicks here and there, more evident in the first 2 songs of both sides, which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this album keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this record sure it’s not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but the record keeps the cover in a great shape and very decent and more than respectable sound quality after about 50 years, which won’t disappoint anyone, with no distortions, no skips, no repetitions at all!!! And the most important, remember not many copies were pressed here in Chile, it has an UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE black and white BACK COVER!!! What a find!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
