DESCRIPTION

The Ahmad Jamal Quintet - “Listen To The Ahmad Jamal Quintet” Argo Records LPS-673 (Stereo) from 1961. Hard to Find Deep Groove Stereo First Pressing Cool / Chamber Jazz album from The Ahmad Jamal Quintet featuring Jamal, Israel Crosby, Vernel Fournier, Joe Kennedy and Ray Crawford. On the Deep Groove Blue with Silver Print Argo “Stereo Odyssey" Labels and in the Original Laminated Sleeve with no Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight shelf wear and corner softening/wear. There is a bit of dirtiness on the back and the upper right corner of the back slick is creased - could be glued back down. Very solid with no splits, stains, writing, cutouts, tears, etc. and I would rate as VG+ overall. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition looking pretty lightly played. If you look closely you can spot some light scuffs and hairlines on side 1, no actual scratches - i.e. something that can be felt with a fingernail. Side 2 has a few more including one visible long scuff / mark. None seem to affect play audibly. Visually side 1 is VG+, side 2 VG and both play at least VG+ or better but there is some soft groove noise and a couple soft tics on side 2, nothing that detracts from the music and might be improved with a better cleaning than my Discwasher brush can give. The labels show some faint spindle trails and there is a slight sticker peel and residure on side 2 but they are otherwise Near Mint.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. I provide Play Grades as a courtesy but only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
